Good day on the staircase.

Tim and I hit the staircase on 9/17/11 early in the morning. We managed 12 good hookups. I landed 2 Chinooks, and Tim landed one steelhead.

Early runs on the SR

The first Salmon of this season have pushed there way into the river over the last week. These fish are very fresh and difficult to land Early on, the majority of fish were in the lower section. The Staircase was hot for a few days. But the majority of this first push has migrated upstream, even as far as the lower fly zone. I was able to land one out of five hookups this week. It was a fresh male of fifteen pounds. He bit a green egg.

Out west

We decided to take a trip out west to fish a Lake Erie tributary. On the first day we hooked around six or seven and landed three. We kept one for some nice fillets and a whole ton of eggs. over night, a huge storm hit and the creek became very high and muddy and unfishable, so we left early.
